Victoria Ballesteros
BOARD MEMBERVictoria Ballesteros is an American artist, writer and solitary witch. She was born in Denver Colorado and has resided in Northern New Mexico for over 30 years. Her life has been replete with deep immersions into professional, academic and mystical pursuits. Early explorations into yoga led her to yoga teacher Scott Hobbs, a B.K.S. Iyengar student. He gave her a life-transforming shoulder adjustment and they have been making magic and mischief ever since. Before she moved to New Mexico in 1995, she photographed Cameron Parsons practicing a Tai Chi sword form during different phases of the moon. The photographic series was published in Abraxas #6 published by Fulgur Press, along with her essay “Chasing Cameron’s Light". A walk along the rue des Beaux Arts in Paris led her to an exhibition of the work of Riva Boren. She was entranced by the Tibetan themes, depictions of prayer stones and her use of Kraft paper.Eventually she was able to purchase a piece of Boren’s and bring it back to her home in Los Angeles. She believes there is something unforgettable about Boren, and that has led to the reemergence of her artistic vision and body of work.
